Visual perception is the ability to interpret information and surroundings from visible light reaching the eye. The resulting perception is also known as eyesight, sight, or vision (adjectival form: visual, optical, or ocular). The various physiological components involved in vision are referred to collectively as the visual system, and are the focus of much research in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, and molecular biology.

Why does visual perception does a U-turn loop?
Q. Hi, my teacher asked the class, why does visual perception does a U-turn loop, like when light falls on the retina, it falls on the rods and cones first then go outwards and form the optic nerve. I wonder what's the answer. Please explain.

A. The retina is described as inverted - that light in the human eye has to travel through the neuron layers before it reaches the retina photoreceptors. Possible explanation - The need for protection of the retina against the injurious effects of light, particularly with the shorter wavelengths, and of the heat generated by focused light necessitates the inverted configuration of the retina in creatures possessing it. Does our visual perception of color change as we travel at higher speeds?
Q. Does our visual perception of color change as we travel at higher speeds?

A. Colors of objects in our immediate environment will still be perceived the same. However, colors outside our immediate environment will change frequency of light due to the Doppler effect. This isn't practical at common human speeds, so don't try to get out of a red light violation by claiming the Doppler effect made it look yellow, you would need to be traveling a ridiculous 10% the speed of light for that Doppler effect to be significant. A funny child's naive optical example of the Doppler effect is that when cars head toward you, their lights are white, but when cars head away from you, their lights are red. This isn't due to the Doppler effect, the source of the light is what gives those colors as per an arbitrary design… [cont.]

Audio-Visual perception?
Q. Hi. i am writing an essay about audio-visual perception, primarily in film(but could be extended to some other related subject). I have read some books, including Michel Chion. i wonder if anybody knows any other books, link, or person related to this area. also, if anybody know some reference about 'Multimodal integration', it will be really helpful. I'm not really good with psychologies and stuff, so if there is something that isn't too complex it will be much better. Thanks.

A. Most persons have normal audio-visual perception. There are neurological challenges such as some of the epilepsies and some of the ADHDs where there can be audio-visual perceptual challenges.
